Since I make my living as a professional enamelist, time is very important to me. I developed the following method to minimalize the firings so that less time is spent cleaning the copper after each firing. I prepared a step-by-step write up that can be found in the book, "The Art of Fine Enameling", Sterling Publishing Company, 2002.
The first application of enamel is done on cleaned copper. A stencil or template is placed over the copper that has been sprayed with a glue solution, and white enamel is sifted through the template.
The template is lifted off the copper, using care not to disturb the enamel.
Next: adding more enamel
